Presenting the 2017 UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television Fellowship in Film Award...

Kevin Karch was born in Bismarck, ND, but was nomadically raised in North Dakota, Texas, and Minnesota, and never knows how to respond to the question, “Where are you from?” Growing up in The Lone Star State and the plains of the Midwest has caused him to have a bizarre, amalgamated accent that makes him sound like Fargo’s Jerry Lundegaard, with a Larry Hagman, Dallas-style twang. Kevin is the proud single father of a child with autism, and received his MFA in screenwriting from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television (2017), and a BA in English with a Creative Writing Emphasis from the University of Minnesota (2011). He also completed UCLA’s Professional Program in Screenwriting (2012), and attended Hamline University’s (St. Paul, MN) MFA Creative Writing program. Kevin was awarded the 2016 George Burns and Gracie Allen Fellowship in Comedy Writing, the 2015 Joel Siegal Film School Fellowship, and was a 2017 Humanitas Prize in Dramatic Television nominee.
