In my opinion every person in the world should see Titanic at least once in his or her lifetime. What makes the movie so intriguing is that it is based on a historical event that occurred over one hundred years ago. The marvelous idea of a movie based on an unsinkable ship and young star-crossed lovers is only the beginning. Titanic has all the dramatic elements required to make this a timeless classic as it explores how economic differences, may have an impact on a person’s life, love is always a possibility, and life and death are certain.

This film ingeniously brings attention to the lesson that monetary differences do not define a person’s true worth. The unintentional tour that Jack and Rose’s relationship takes illustrates how the rich people live lavishly in first class and how the poor live in lower class. The social and economic rules of the time period defined a person’s station in life, but as tragedy strikes each individual ultimately faced death whether or not they had their pockets full of money. The compelling point is that the members of the Titanic all met their destiny of life and death regardless of their finances, but love carried many of them to their final moments.

Another reason I chose Titanic is because there are several resilient characters in this film, all having an affect on the audience. The female heroine, Rose, is a strong role model to look up to for many girls and young adults. Her character is clever enough to know her true desires, and she’s fearless in attaining them. Rose’s model traits are remarkably extraordinary during a time period when women weren’t always considered as strong or independent beings. Rose retells the story of Titanic through her eyes and experiences where love and personal triumph prevail.

Jack, the leading male, brings charisma, likability, and chivalry to life through his character portrayal of a young lower class artist. I chose this movie largely because Jack’s station in life does not define him, but rather he embraced the prospect of a life that he chose without regard to the standards by which others dictate. Before tragedy strikes, he proclaims his willingness to be in a relationship with Rose regardless of the repercussions. Jack opens Rose’s eyes up to the world around her outside of the cage she feels trapped in. The audience uncovers a sense for the meaning of love and loyalty through the characters. Jack and Rose both came from two very different economical backgrounds and lived two very different lifestyles. Regardless, they found happiness and love in each other’s arms. The appeal of Jack and Rose’s story is in both the love story and the ultimate sacrifice in the end, which Jack makes for Rose because he loves her.

The last reason why everyone in the world should see this movie is for all the praise and awards it has won. Titanic garnered an amazing eleven Academy Awards and four Grammy Awards, which included cinematography, wardrobe, directing, musical track, visual effects, and many others. This blockbuster boasted the largest box office gross of all time for its outstanding $1.8 billion in ticket sales. James Cameron, the director, is a mastermind of his craft and industry, bringing this story to moviegoers worldwide. The title track, My Heart Will Go On, is the them and love song of the two young lovers from a time that has gone by. The classic and timeless love story set upon the sinking of Titanic forever remains in the hearts of the viewers.

My opinion holds true that every person in his or her lifetime should see this movie as it has a profound lasing effect on one’s emotions. The critically acclaimed elements and characters of Titanic resonate excellence throughout this film.
