One of the greatest box office hits of today's generation is Spider-Man no way home, it brought old and new fan bases together to share a unique experience that could not have happened if watched at home. Going to the theater to watch Spider-Man no way home was not just a movie to watch at home, it was an event that must be seen on the big screen. Starting from the environment the theater gives off, the rollercoaster of emotions one goes through while watching the movie, and finally the visual effects of the movie that are amplified by watching it on the big screen. Let's start off by dissecting what makes the theater environment such a unique experience. The theater environment experiences is one of a kind that cannot be matched at home or on any other device. Some people enjoy revolving their day around going to the movies. One can go doing leisure activities, buy dinner, then end the day with a great movie. Big movies such as Spider-Man give off a unique experience. From the time you enter the theater, you can see some people come in costumes for the movie making the experience extra special. It gets followed up by ordering a fresh tub of popcorn with a large ice-cold soda along with some candy and walking towards the theater while looking at all the movie posters for upcoming movies. Once seated, the viewer is among other people who are just as excited for the movie as they are. When the movie is ready to begin the anticipation starts to rise as the curtains open, lights dim, and the intro begins. Silence overcomes the theater, and everybody starts sharing the unique experience of viewing the highs and lows of the movie together. While watching a movie on the big screen emotions get amplified by hearing the pain in a character's voice, being able to feel the silence, and the emotions that get brought up during the climax of the movie. Emotional moments throughout the movie, like when Aunt May is killed, it is felt throughout the whole theater, leaving the audience speechless and hearts broken. Scenes such as when Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield appear for the first time on the big screen bring a wide range of emotions from all different types of movie watchers. Older generations are excited to see Tobey on the big screen once again, younger adults are excited to see Andrew, and the younger generations are excited to see Tom making the theater cheer. From that point on one has the euphoric feeling of watching all three Spider-men interact talking about all the hardships they had to go through, the comedic interactions between all of them, and the sacrifices they had to make. The visual effects in this movie are amazing from the villains, the fight scenes, and the web slinging from all three Spider-Men. The visual effects from the villains such as Dr. Otto Octavius, Electro and Sandman must be witnessed in the theater because only in the theater will one be able to catch the extensive details that producers put into the movie. One of my favorite effects in the movie is when the nanotechnology from Spider-Man suit gets distributed through Dr. Otto Octaviouse mechanical arms one can see how the big screen played a major role in this scene by catering such small details in the mechanical arms. Throughout the movie the big screen plays a critical role during all the fight from the beginning fight with Doctor strange all the way until the final fight scene at the statue of liberty. All these fight scenes paired with the big screen and an Atmos sound system transport you to a different world. My favorite scene in the movie was being able to see all three Spider-Men Swing around the Statue of Liberty, the visual effects that made it possible to give off a realistic feeling of them free falling and catching themselves with their webs to finally landing make it all seem like actions that could be done in real life. At the end of the day would you rather see a great movie like Spider-Man no way home at home on a 50-inch screen, with microwaved popcorn, and constant interruptions. Or would you rather watch the movie at your local movie theater on a 75-foot-wide Imax screen with Dolby Atmos surround sound, along with a fresh tub of Popcorn, comfy recliner seats, and with a crowd of people reacting to all the highs and lows of the movies. I'm not sure about you but I do know where people can find me Friday night when the next Spider-Man movie is released. |
