What drew you to nursing and healthcare? Growing up, I became interested in nursing through my austistic sister, Veronica, and my cousin, Jess. My family and I have been taking care of Veronica our whole lives, and having the experience of providing care for her, drew me to a career in nursing. Jess is a labor and delivery nurse, and her stories about nursing school and her job made me excited to begin my own journey to my future!

What do you hope to do as a nurse when you graduate from USF? I hope to become a labor and delivery travel nurse once I graduate from USF, and hopefully continue my career to even become an OB/GYN nurse practitioner.

How will the NATO of California/Nevada scholarship assist you in your studies OR What are you looking forward to as a NATO of California/Nevada Scholar? The National Association of Theatre Owners of California/Nevada scholarship will assist my studies by enabling me to attend the University of San Francisco without putting financial strain on my parents. My mom has worked two jobs to get me and my 4 siblings through school, so this scholarship is incredible to continue my passion in the medical field!

Why did you choose USF? I chose the University of San Francisco because of their amazing nursing program and the location. I was immensely grateful to have been accepted and now attending a liberal school that values every student and major. I’m from San Diego and I love California, so I wanted to move from my hometown but remain somewhere along the coast. USF was the perfect option to spend the next 4 years at, especially in an upbeat and busy environment that I enjoy.

Tell us about yourself! (This can be whatever you choose – your hobbies, passions, friends/family, or fun facts about you.) Some of my hobbies include reading, crocheting, running, and playing the guitar and piano. A fun fact about me is that I share the same birthday with my dad, December 16th!
