What drew you to nursing and healthcare? Growing up, I was always surrounded by family members who were working in the engineering and technological fields. Nursing and healthcare were never in the picture as a kid but as I matured, I learned how important healthcare professionals are to the world. The idea of a nursing career hit home for me when I realized it was going to be a constant journey of learning. Nurses hold qualities of care, compassion, and trustworthiness that are necessary to take on such difficult responsibilities. Their efforts, especially during such difficult times with the pandemic, motivate me to work hard and achieve my goals.

Tell us about yourself! (This can be whatever you choose – your hobbies, passions, friends/family, or fun facts about you.) I am a very curious individual who loves to learn new things on my own. As a child, I explored many interests that turned out to be hobbies that I am very passionate about today. I played many sports such as basketball, soccer, golf, and tennis and even learned music by playing instruments such as the guitar, drums, and piano. I also love exploring cultures and communicating with others who I normally wouldn’t, so I learned to listen, speak, read, and write Japanese throughout high school. I even visited Japan on a school trip that was sponsored by JICE (JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION CENTER) to meet and build bridges with Japanese citizens. I would say I let my interests guide me and they make me who I am today.
