Movie theater and the live entertainment industry have suffered over the last couple of years since the Covid 19 Pandemic started, and since then there have been many challenges in getting theatres back up to full operation. I believe that although this movie came out recently, Spider Man: No Way Home should absolutely be watched in theatres or in a theatre-like environment. This movie not only quickly became one of the most profitable movies of all time, but fostered a fun, friendly environment for everyone coming back to theaters after a year of isolation. Having something comfortable to rely on to be introduced back into socialization was something that helped myself and others become more comfortable with being in public again. Although masking and vaccination records were still being heavily enforced in December (in California that is) the theaters were excited to have a major box office release. Avengers endgame is in my opinion still the number one greatest movie of all time, however, I think that Spiderman played a crucial role in getting theatres back in business. When I watched the movie opening day, I was overwhelmed with nostalgia and with joy at everything I was seeing on the screen. The audio was incredible; from the musical cues, voicework, surround sound dynamics, and the bantering and references to all of the generations of Spiderman that came before Tom's. This is one of my favorite movies of all time and I believe that it has earned its place in the history books as one of the greatest cinematic pieces in recent history. The story of No way Home was peters real origin story, I know that we are getting a spiderman TV series at some point later on, but it won't be as crucial to the MCU as No way Home. Watching this movie on anything smaller than a 50" tv would make the experience, audibly, and visually, much less appealing for everyone involved. I am a musician so I love good sound quality, the only thing that might redeem watching this movie on a smaller screen is if you have a good pair of headphones to pair with, but even then, you will end up missing so much without the visual cues to go along with it. Maybe if you popped some movie theatre style popcorn alongside it you would make the experience better too, every movie is better with popcorn. Although the experience may be the same for some if they watched this movie at home, I think that all movies should be seen on a big screen for the first time. If there is a place in this world, that rents out every one of it's theaters to play a movie of your choice, I would love to go. Regal sometimes lets you rent out theaters for groups of people to watch in house movies but I don't know if you can bring your own. If I had a choice, I would recommend that every movie be put on the big screen. I think that movie theatres are fun, entertaining, safe, and they provide everything we as customers need to enjoy our moviegoing experience. In conclusion, Spiderman propelled the movie industry back in business from a seemingly endless pandemic. The experience of this movie would change drastically if watched anywhere else, and it's thanks to the movie theatre workers that the experience is so enjoyable. It's clear to see why Spiderman No Way Home is my current favorite movie, and why I believe this movie should be seen for the first time on the big screen. |
