A particular movie I feel should be seen on the big screen is "Don't Look Up." This movie was not only intelligently produced but it presents a very important message that I believe the world needs to see. It is thrilling, existential and pragmatic. I know the question was probably meant big screen vs TV or digital device however I saw this movie on Netflix and I feel I need to make a statement by saying they missed a huge opportunity by not first showing it on the big screen.

Along with a vital and valuable message, this movie depicts such beautiful imagery and spectacular epic sweeps, while keeping us entertained with astonishing and breathtaking actions in the sky. These visuals cannot be replicated on your TV. It takes the big screen to truly captivate and grab your attention while hopefully opening your eyes to the world around you. This movie seemed to be shot in such detail that not viewing it on the big screen seems to be a big miss. It almost appears as an insult to have such an amazing director such as Adam McKay and leading actor Leonardo DiCaprio (played Dr. Randall Mindy) and actress Jennifer Lawrence (played Kate Dibaisky) not being portrayed or presented in proper format. Not to mention academy award winning actress Meryl Streep (plays the President) and Jonah Hill (her son in the movie), and another important character, Mark Rylance, who portrays a powerful technology billionaire.

This movie is about two astronomers who notice an enormous comet on its way to hit earth. The image of this concept not only needs to be shown on the big screen, but to get the best revelation this movie should be presented in either IMAX or Dolby. Once the comet hits earth, causing catastrophic damage and killing everything and everyone, the spectacular image and aura can only be felt and represented properly when observed in appropriate and suitable format. Also, seeing and hearing the reaction of a crowd in a theatre is priceless. One significant part of this movie was a message the President and her son were giving to the world, and that message was "don't look up." Funny, because as you look up you see a spectacular sight. One that a TV or digital device cannot replicate. In this movie you can clearly see the connection between characters in real life such as Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. However, the underlying theme of this movie was to portray just how money-driven and clueless some people of power and wealth are about what is going on in this world. It exposes important and relevant occurrences, such as climate change and other extremely damaging events that are happening to our plant. The true message of this movie is that we need to stop caring about such things that do not matter because our planet is dying due to our own actions. As I was watching this movie, I was so charmed and intrigued that I simply could not take my eyes off the screen and wondered how much more stunning and impressive this would have been to have watched in a movie theatre. Not only to see the magnificent and dazzling imagery, but to hear the ooohs and aaahs of the audience. This movie also deserves to play on the big screen for its amazing depiction of real -life scenarios. Although some might say that this movie could be controversial, I believe that is why it is so good. Cinema is the art of make-believe, where the lines between illusion and reality get blurred. We are sometimes tricked into believing what we see. However, this depicted illusion is best watched with an audience. This movie could have reached so many different viewers if it was afforded the opportunity to be watched on multiple platforms. The movie is thrilling, suspenseful, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is far from one dimensional and a bigger screen would have better helped depict and describe the message. It also deserves all the attention possible because of how significant the meaning is. I believe this movie, if it had played on the big screen, could have helped us better spread the message of ensuring we are all doing our part in leaving this planet in a much cleaner and safer place than we found it. I further believe this is one point we all can agree on.
