Behind the Curtains Banner

How many years have you worked in the Movie Theatre Industry and how did you first become involved?
I have been working in this industry for 16 years. I started working for Cinemark as a concessionist while I was attending the University of Oregon.

What’s the best part of your Job? Do you have any memorable experiences that you would like to share?
The best part of my job is hands-down serving popcorn in the concession stand on a busy Friday night – nothing beats it!

What is your fondest movie theatre memory?
Walking into Cinemark’s Cathedral City, CA location in July of 2005. It was my first GM posting and when I entered the lobby, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride.

How old were you when you went to your first movie?
Do you remember the theatre and the city?

I was 3 years old. It was E.T. It was the Gresham Cinema in Gresham, Oregon.

What is your favorite movie of all time? What is it about this movie that stands out for you?
My favorite film of all time is Gladiator. I love the battle scenes and the triumph of good over evil, right over wrong.

Do you have any industry related hobbies or experiences? Please explain.
This is kind of funny, but I collect all of the Cinemark annual refill tubs and drink cups. My wife always wants to throw them out at the end of the year when we get our new ones, but I won’t let her. I don’t usually keep those sorts of things, but I like collecting these for some reason that I have not yet defined.

Do you have any special interests that you would like to share?
I thoroughly enjoy fishing, hiking, wood working and, of course, watching movies with my wife and three daughters.
What does being a member of NATO of CA/NV mean to you?
It means that I not only have to be a good representative of the exhibition industry on behalf of Cinemark, but I have to be a good representative of the exhibition industry on behalf of all exhibitors. We members of NATO are all in this together.
Of all the resources that the Association offers (seminars, scholarships, email advisories, etc.) which is most useful for you?
Well, I ENJOY the seminars the most, but I find the group food safety certifications to be the most useful resource that NATO provides. Charlene makes it so easy to sign up and get the whole process done for everyone.
