How many years have you worked in the Movie Theatre Industry and how did you first become involved?
I've been in the industry 31 years. I began my career with Mann Theatres in 1987 as an usher at the Alex Theatre in Glendale California.

What’s the best part of your Job? Do you have any memorable experiences that you would like to share?
Travelling across the country and seeing the impact of the movie-going experience in a variety of cultures.

My most memorable experiences are the hand & foot print ceremonies for a variety of film stars at the world famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

What is your fondest movie theatre memory?
 
I have many, but most revolve around the numerous blockbuster films and midnight shows at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. “There is nothing like experiencing the magic of movies with a sold-out crowd, lined up around the block in anticipation of seeing a film on the big screen!”

How old were you when you went to your first movie?
Do you remember the theatre and the city?

I was 15 years old. I saw Beverly Hills Cop at Mann’s Valley West theatre in Tarzana CA.

What is your favorite movie of all time? What is it about this movie that stands out for you?
Cinema Paradiso for a foreign film and Heat. Cinema Paradiso is basically my life story in film exhibition and Heat because of my two favorite actors, collaborating in the same film, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

Do you have any industry related hobbies or experiences? Please explain.
I enjoy various film festivals such as LAFF, Tribeca FF, due to the diverse new content offered. These films are truly often original and refreshingly ground breaking.

Do you have any special interests that you would like to share?
My interests include flying airplanes and I hold a commercial Pilot’s license. Flying is a passion!

What does being a member of NATO of CA/NV mean to you?
That we are a part of a unique community with opportunities to create memorable experiences for everyday folks.

Of all the resources that the Association offers (seminars, scholarships, email advisories, etc.) which is most useful for you?
I believe the scholarships provide much needed opportunities for employees with an interest in film making as well as other related careers.
