How many years have you worked in the Movie Theatre Industry and how did you first become involved?
35 years. I started at the AMC Fashion Square 4 Theatres in La Habra, California on 5/11/81.

What’s the best part of your Job?
Teaching associates how to be responsible human beings in the communities they live, while enjoying the entertainment aspect of the job.

What is your fondest movie theatre memory?
Administering first-aid to a guest who had experienced a heart attack (who later came back and thanked me for saving his life).

How old were you when you went to your first movie? Do you remember the theatre and the city?
I was eight years old. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood.  The movie was Tora, Tora.

What is your favorite movie of all time? What is it about this movie that stands out for you?
Fast Times At Ridgemont High. “Wherever you are, that’s the place to be.” (Mike Damone)

Do you have any special interests? What are they?
Yes, riding my Harley and surfing. (Editor’s note:  Mike was just in a surfing contest where he placed 4th - after advancing to the 5th and final heat.)

 


Is there anything else that you would like to share about yourself?
I have been married to my lovely wife Irene for 15 years and we have a son, Courtney.  I love working for AMC Theatres!!  And seeing movies.  I have been at the Metreon Theatre for 10 years now managing a staff of 65.  (Editors note:  NATO of CA/NV would like to thank Mike Tieger and his staff for hosting three Film Product Seminars and numerous meetings at his busy theatre.)

What does being a member of NATO of CA/NV mean to you?
Always knowing NATO has our back.


Of all the resources that the Association offers (seminars, scholarships, email advisories, etc.) which is most useful for you?
Just knowing NATO is available anytime I need them (along with the NATO Friendships I have made along the way).
